2009 AMIT Annual Dinner

2009 Annual Dinner Honors Distinguished AMIT Leaders

The 2009 AMIT Annual Dinner brought together 500 members, friends and supporters from throughout the tri-state area at the Grand Hyatt New York in New York City. Honorees included Rabbi Arnold and Zipporah Marans of Cedarhurst, New York; Arthur and Hattie Dubroff of West Orange, New Jersey; and William and Ronnie Slochowsky of New York City.

A highlight of the evening was a film, made in Israel and narrated by AMIT graduate Tal Avitan, in which he visited the two AMIT facilities where he spent his formative years. Tal credits the education and care he received at AMIT Frisch Beit Hayeled in Jerusalem and the AMIT Kfar Blatt Youth Village in Petach Tikvah as providing the skills and foundation that allowed him to build a meaningful and productive life.

The 2009 Annual Dinner was chaired by Ina and David Tropper of Riverdale, New York. Co-chairs included Marion Crespi of Cedarhurst, New York; Adrianne and Avi Shapira of New York City; and Robyn and Bruce Shoulson of West Orange, New Jersey.

AMIT enables Israel's youth to realize their potential and strengthens Israeli society by educating and nurturing children from diverse backgrounds within a framework of academic excellence, Jewish values and Zionist ideals.

AMIT educates and cares for Israel’s youth, including the most vulnerable. Some 70 per cent of AMIT students cope with educational, psychological, economic and/or social risk factors. AMIT approaches each child as an individual, maximizing his or her potential, and enabling our students to become vital, productive members of Israeli society. The AMIT schools promote religious tolerance, service to the state and the recognition that every child is blessed with unique talents and abilities. Founded in 1925, AMIT operates more than 70 schools, youth villages, surrogate family residences and other programs, constituting Israel’s only government-recognized network of religious Jewish education incorporating academic and technological studies.
