Giving Opportunities to Others’ Annual Winter Gala "Crystal Ball: Betting on a Brighter Future"

Giving Opportunities to Others’ Annual Winter Gala "Crystal Ball: Betting on a Brighter Future"

The recession has hit young New Yorkers hard, but it hasn’t hardened their hearts. More than 500 young New York City professionals turned out for Giving Opportunities to Others’ annual Winter Gala, held February 20 at Capitale in downtown Manhattan.

The event title was “Crystal Ball: Betting on a Brighter Future.” And the generosity of the crowd helped the party live up to its name. The gala raised more than $75,000, helping provide scholarship funding to Appel Farm Art & Music Center for dozens of talented, underprivileged middle school students. GOTO sold more VIP tickets than ever before as New Yorkers opted to pay premium prices and donate more to charity.

The tickets were well worth it. Casino games provided a chance for party-goers to meet new people and reconnect with old friends before taking to the dance floor. Attendees included an array of prominent New Yorkers and guest celebrities including Eric Nies (Confessions of a Teen Idol, Real World) and Jeremy Jackson (Confessions of a Teen Idol, Baywatch). Revelers also had an opportunity to hear a performance by one special GOTO scholar.

Fresh off of the gala’s success, GOTO members are energized and planning our summer soiree in earnest. Look forward to it in August with special guests from the NBA!
