The 9th Annual Women Who Care Luncheon

The 9th Annual Women Who Care Luncheon benefitting United Cerebral Palsy of New York City was held on May 6, 2010 at Cipriani 42nd Street.

The sold-out event celebrated the accomplishments of extraordinary women as caregivers, volunteers and professionals.

Producer/Philanthropist/Disability Rights Activist Loreen Arbus is Founder & Chair of Women Who Care. Cathleen P. Black, President, Hearst Magazines Group is Honorary Chair. Donna Hanover served as Host for the event. Joan Jedell, Publisher, Hampton Sheet, is Co-Chair, Women Who Care.

In addition, several celebrities appeared to offer insightful stories illustrating real life examples of ways in which United Cerebral Palsy of New York City has affected the lives of people living with disabilities. The stories focused on UCP/NYC’s “Doorways to Independence,” a successful new program which helps families stay together by offering help to transform homes into places where people living with disabilities can live independent lives.

In addition to Cynthia Nixon, Jimmy Smits, Meredith Vieira and Alan Rickman, the other celebrity presenters were: Robin Givens, Actress & Author; Tinsley Mortimer, High Society; Paula Zahn, host of On The Case With Paula Zahn; Tamara Tunie, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; Bryan Batt, Mad Men; Mike Woods, Fox’s 5’s Good Day New York; Timothy Mandala, star of the upcoming movies Experiment 7, Under The Influence & China Doll; Rita Cosby, TV Host & author; SaCha Stewart-Coleman and Eden Duncan-Smith, stars of “Fences” on Broadway.
